Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are at the very heart of the provision that we aim to provide in schools. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe, valued and able to achieve to their full potential. This will benefit the entire school community.
Not all pupils start from the same place and we need to ensure that the right support is provided so that each child has a fair opportunity to achieve their full potential.
We live in changing times where there is more mobility around the country and we have a wider cohort of learning needs, cultures and languages. You may also be supporting children who have arrived in your school from a conflict zone who are fearful of new beginnings and are complete beginners in English. Your teachers will need support in welcoming, settling and teaching these pupils.
Indeed, the New Ofsted Framework states that inspectors will actively look at how schools are supporting EAL learners and how whole school practice removes barriers, supports well-being and helps pupils feel included.
We can provide support with consultation on EDI policy and practice, staff CPD on EAL strategies and tools and individual pupil assessments where needed with advice for teachers on classroom strategies and next steps.
