‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ states that all staff in schools and colleges should undergo safeguarding and child protection training (including online safety) at induction.
This introductory safeguarding training has been produced by the LADO Education Safeguarding Advisory Service to form part of staff induction to ensure staff working in schools/colleges have the essential knowledge and skills they need to recognise, report and record concerns to protect children, aged 5-17.
This course will enable staff working in schools/colleges to recognise and respond to a variety of safeguarding concerns and priorities, as identified in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’
The course explores current national education safeguarding guidance, as well as best practice policy and procedures. However, it is important that once staff have completed the training, they find out their school/college specific policies and procedures via their Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Please note:
- The licence for this course will last until 31 August 2026.
- The course should take one to two hours complete.
- This course will not address school/colleges specific local context and/or individual policies and procedures; this will need to be provided by the school/college DSL.
- The current version of this course is in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ 2025.
