Toileting and Intimate Care for Pupils

This E-learning module is aimed at setting and school SENCOs who would like to learn more about meeting the needs of children with intimate and personal care needs. It includes:

  • Some short tasks to understand the differences between intimate and personal care.
  • Some awareness raising of different bowel and bladder conditions and the emotional impact of these.
  • The legislation and responsibilities educational settings must adhere to.
  • The writing of intimate care plans and related policies.
  • Signposting and where to seek support.
  • To understand the differences between personal and intimate care.
  • To have a better understanding of conditions which can affect the bladder and bowel function leading to continence difficulties.
  • To understand the legislation and schools responsibility to manage intimate care.
  • To write an intimate care plan.
  • To have an awareness and strategies to support the emotional impact of living with continence difficulties.
  • To know where to seek support.

By taking this course, you'll gain the knowledge and confidence to support children with intimate and personal care needs in a respectful, safe, and inclusive way.
