Supporting children to improve their focus and attention (executive function) across the primary phase.

With so many changes happening within SEND and inclusion, this event is an opportunity to network, hear from schools who have just been through the new inspection process and listen to Dr. Sam Wass, one of the UK’s leading experts on Early Years brain development. 

Sam will be focusing on how attention works and how leaders in schools can work positively with all children to improve their focus and concentration. It offers evidenced based research into early brain development along with practical approaches.

The SEND Reform: Putting Children and Young People First consultation states, “Children use executive functions to organise their thinking, behaviour and emotions… Understanding the core components of executive function helps teachers choose approaches that better support children’s learning and make their teaching more effective.”

Dr Sam Wass is the Director of the Institute for the Science of Early Years based at the University of East London. In addition, he regularly appears as an EY expert on TV, radio and in national newspapers. Following his hugely popular presentation at our Early Years conference, this is a unique opportunity to listen and speak to an expert in the field, as well as have protected time for networking.
