About this course

Inspiring Reading, Writing and Oracy Across the Primary Years

Join colleagues from across the South East for a vibrant day of professional learning at our Primary English Conference – an unmissable opportunity to deepen your understanding of effective English teaching and leave inspired to make an immediate impact in your classroom and school.

We are excited to welcome two keynote speakers to this year's event - Charlotte Hacking, author, teacher and teacher engagement lead at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Pedagogy, and Victoria Dilly, CEO of the School Library Association.

In addition to inspiring keynote presentations, delegates will tailor their day by selecting practical workshops focused on key priorities in primary English:

  • Reading for pleasure – developing a rich, inclusive reading culture.

  • Supporting reading fluency – strategies that improve comprehension and confidence.

  • Writing in EYFS – nurturing early writers through play, talk and texts.

  • Oracy – strengthening spoken language to support learning across the curriculum.

  • Getting the most from an author visit – maximising impact before, during and after the visit.

Whether you are refining classroom practice or shaping whole-school strategy, this conference offers evidence-informed insight, practical ideas and renewed inspiration.

Previous conference feedback includes:

'Great to discuss new ideas and research, networking opportunities'

'Inspirational'

'Thankyou for a useful and informative day'

'Keynote speakers very engaging'
