About this course

This session will help teachers develop confidence in supporting pupils with EAL, including new arrivals.

We will explore the different types of EAL learners they may encounter, the current national context (Ofsted and the Equality Act), and effective approaches to induction and orientation. Participants will also examine key EAL theory, practical classroom tools, assessment approaches, and how to distinguish between SEN and EAL needs to ensure pupils receive the right support.

This training is designed for Primary and Secondary ECTs and teachers up to five years from completing induction.
