This course provides an overview of process addictions, explaining what they are and exploring their core characteristics.
It looks at how meaning, context, and personal attitudes can influence whether a behaviour becomes addictive, and considers common types of process addictions seen in young people, particularly in the context of complex trauma.
The overview also helps participants recognise early warning signs of emerging process addictions, including behavioural, emotional, and physical indicators.
This training explores the links between social media use and issues such as identity development, social comparison, mental health, and gender identity.
It introduces key principles of trauma-informed support for young people experiencing process addictions and outlines appropriate treatment and recovery pathways, helping carers and professionals respond with confidence, sensitivity, and understanding.
