Ruth Gately

Ruth brings over three decades of expertise in secondary education and over 10 years in senior leadership roles. She is passionate about creating inclusive environments where every pupil can thrive—socially, emotionally, and academically—regardless of their individual needs.

Throughout her career, Ruth has held a range of positions across Kent schools, including subject lead, pastoral lead, SENCO, and senior leader for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). She played a key role in establishing a high-quality, inclusive model within a mainstream school with a large SRP, enabling all pupils to succeed in a fully integrated setting.

As The Education People’s SEND and Inclusion Specialist, Ruth provides expert advice, guidance, and training for school leaders, SENCOs, inclusion leads, and classroom practitioners across primary, secondary, and specialist settings. Her work focuses on supporting schools to review and enhance their SEND provision, policies, and inclusive practices.

Ruth also delivers specialist training to early career and trainee teachers on inclusive classroom strategies, high-quality teaching for pupils with additional needs, and effective use of resources to support every learner.
