Kent Collaboration Fortnight

The Kent Collaboration Fortnight (KCF) is a brand new county-wide initiative that involves primary, secondary, special schools, academies and alternative provision settings across Kent Local Authority. The aim is to showcase and share exemplary educational practices that are having a positive impact on children's learning, wellbeing and development across all phases in schools.

The Kent Collaboration Fortnight for 2026/27 will be taking place over two weeks from 25 January to 5 February 2027.

What happens during the Kent Collaboration Fortnight?

We are hoping to get as many schools as possible signed up, to be able to deliver a Kent-wide programme of school visits focussed on the four national education priorities, supporting teachers' and leaders' professional growth in the following areas:

  • attendance
  • inclusion
  • best start in life
  • attainment.

We recognise that every school in Kent has strengths and elements of effective practice that are valuable to share. As we continue to strengthen a culture of collaboration across the county, we hope all schools will have opportunities over time to both share their work and learn from others. For this inaugural fortnight in 2027, your school may choose to showcase practice, take part in visits to other schools, or both.

We aim for representation across all areas of Kent, with schools in each district hosting visits.

How does my school become a 'host' school?

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from Kent schools, including special schools and alternative provision settings, who would be willing to host visits from colleagues across the county. Hosting schools should demonstrate strong overall practice and a particular strength in at least one of the four priority areas, and the eligibility criteria below.

*Eligibility criteria for hosting schools

Host schools will currently have above Kent average FSM Ever-6 (21.5% Kent) and will be able to demonstrate how gaps for disadvantaged pupils are narrowing over time.

*We would welcome expressions of interest from special schools and PRUs who can demonstrate:

  • effective provision which has been validated externally (eg from Ofsted or a school improvement adviser) and/or has led impactful outreach work with mainstream schools.

Schools interested in hosting are invited to review the criteria and complete an expression of interest form, no later than 27 November 2026.

What happens next?

Hosting schools will be shortlisted by The Education People's Improvement Advisors and notified the week beginning 30 November 2026 of the outcome.

If your school doesn't fit the hosting criteria on this occasion, but you would like staff/yourself to participate in visits please, register your/their details here: KCF - visiting schools form.

Please bookmark this page, and share with colleagues. We will be updating the content as more information becomes available, so please check back regularly.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting county-wide professional development opportunity.
